About Me

Undergrad at Ohio State

I attended The Ohio State University and studied Communications, Design and PR. I worked 35 hours/week waiting tables and tending bar and graduated with a 3.7 GPA in 2004.

AC Lens

After graduation, I accepted a job as Affiliate Marketing and Content Manager at a small contact lens E-Commerce company called AC Lens. We were a competitor of 1800CONTACTS and sold contact lenses online on a number of websites. I handled many duties at this time, from graphic design to email marketing to shipping orders when the warehouse was understaffed.

MBA - Capital University

I attended Capital University from 2009-2012 in the Executive MBA program and focused on expanding my knowledge in finance, accounting, and marketing. My time in the MBA program was instrumental in giving me the tools to manage PCPD and also be comfortable presenting to executives at National Vision, Walmart and Sam's Club. I graduated in 2012 with a 3.8 GPA.

UndercoverCondoms.com

I also managed performance marketing and the overall P&L for a subsidiary company called UndercoverCondoms.com. Condoms are similar to contact lenses in that they are light and easy to ship, a replenishment item, and some people preferred to buy them online. I helped grow this business 10x to $1M plus in annual sales by 2010.  In 2006 I became a partner in PCPD, which was the holding company for UndercoverCondoms.com.

BaseballRampage.com

My partners wanted to diversify further, and we looked at a number of verticals from golf clubs to men’s grooming products to paintball supplies. We ultimately landed on baseball and softball equipment as an underdeveloped E-Commerce category. We launched BaseballRampage.com in 2007, with a retail store connected to our distribution center. We focused primarily on direct-to-consumer Ecommerce sales, and I had full P&L responsibility for all of PCPD. We launched SoftballRampage.com in 2009 and grew the business through efficient online marketing and word of mouth. The combined revenues of the Rampage Sports business reached $5M in 2012.

WalmartContacts.com

AC Lens partnered with retailers like CVS, Giant Eagle, and vision insurers to offer contact lenses via our custom optical E-Commerce platform. We partnered with Walmart and Sam's Club in 2013, and I led the project to integrate with their existing systems and create the web experiences. I managed these partnerships, working with their executive teams to add new features and optimize contact lens sales on our sites through 2020.

P&L Ownership for AC Lens

I took over P&L ownership for AC Lens from 2016 to 2020 and grew the business from $25M to $50M. Our primary brands were DiscountContacts.com, AC Lens.com, and DiscountGlasses.com. During this time we built contact lens subscription, a mobile app, a new responsive E-Commerce platform, online prescription renewal, and many other features.

I led the Marketing, UX, Merchandising, Digital Product, and Content & Creative teams.

National Vision

The founder and President of AC Lens retired in November of 2020, and I was asked to join the National Vision marketing team as VP of Ecommerce, Site and Performance Marketing. I accepted the role and took to modernizing the E-Commerce platform and improving the user experience for AmericasBest.com and EyeglassWorld.com. National Vision operates 1300 plus retail stores in 44 states and the websites were primarily used as scheduling platforms for eye exams. My goal was to improve conversion for eye exam scheduling, while improving the website shopping experience and omnichannel features supporting E-Commerce.

AmericasBest.com

In my time with National Vision, we have implemented a virtual glasses try-on application, added personalization and greatly improved the omnichannel user experience by bringing store purchases and patient prescription information online. We have increased the eye exam scheduler completion rate by over 300 basis points through user research and identifying user pain points and split testing solutions using Google Optimize. These improvements translate to millions of dollars of incremental revenue.
